Global Sensitivity Analysis Method for Embankment Dam Slope Stability Considering Seepage–Stress Coupling under Changing Reservoir Water Levels

Ensuring the long-term, efficient, and safe operation of reservoir dams relies on slope stability embankment dams. Periodic fluctuations water level due to scheduling operations make bank vulnerable instability. To investigate influence various factors their interactions with dam under changing levels, a global sensitivity analysis method is proposed that accounts for seepage–stress coupling. An in Shaanxi Province, China, studied as an example, COMSOL Multiphysics software simulating seepage fluctuating conditions The affecting accomplished by combining Plackett–Burman Box–Behnken experimental designs, ANOVA determining each factor interaction term. results demonstrate during impoundment period reservoir, saturation line concave, overall safety increases first then tends be stable, according coefficient. internal friction angle φ, cohesion c, soil density ρs represent three most sensitive slope, while c × second-order term significant coefficient slope. drainage infiltration convex, reduced increased. magnitude change H, are four stability, ρs, H φ terms stability. These research findings methods can offer valuable technical support reference investigation evaluation slopes.
